Execution

What We Execute

AHU Supply, Installation & Testing

Ventilation is a related, separate service. AHUs condition air; exhaust and pressurization systems move it for air-quality and safety purposes. See Ventilation Systems for that scope — the two are often installed together on the same project.

Ventilation is a related, separate service. AHUs condition air; exhaust and pressurization systems move it for air-quality and safety purposes. See Ventilation Systems for that scope — the two are often installed together on the same project.

AHU sizing and system design are not part of HAPL’s scope; HAPL executes to the CFM and capacity specification handed over by the consultant, and verifies performance against it before handover.

Understanding the Scope

AHU vs FCU — What's the Difference?

Air Handling Units (AHUs) and Fan Coil Units (FCUs) both use coils and fans to condition air, but they differ in capacity, application, and the number of spaces they serve. AHUs are designed for larger commercial and industrial HVAC systems, while FCUs are typically used for individual rooms or smaller zones.

Floor or Zone-Level

AHU — Air Handling Unit

Larger equipment that conditions air for an entire floor or zone, distributing it through connected ductwork to multiple rooms.

Room-Level

FCU — Fan Coil Unit

Smaller equipment that conditions air for a single room or small area, usually without extensive ductwork.

Installation Scope

What's Included in AHU Installation

HAPL’s AHU installation scope covers complete Air Handling Unit setup, including equipment placement, coil and filter sections, fan and motor assembly, ducting connections, chilled-water piping, electrical integration, testing, and commissioning for reliable HVAC system performance.

01.

Placement & Mounting

AHU positioning and mechanical mounting in the plant room or floor location.

02.

Coil
Connections

Chilled-water or refrigerant coil connections per the design specification.

03.

Filter
Sections

Filter bank installation for incoming air quality control.

04.

Motor & Fan Assembly

Fan and motor installation, aligned and balanced for rated airflow.

Our Approach

How We Install a AHU Installation

From specification review to airflow testing, AHU installation follows a structured sequence coordinated with ducting and coil-piping teams on site.

Step 1

Spec Review

Review AHU capacity, CFM requirements, and consultant designs for accurate system planning.

Step 2

Procurement

Source certified AHU units from trusted technology partners meeting project specifications.

Step 3

Installation

Complete AHU placement, coil connections, assembly, and integration with HVAC systems.

Step 4

Performance Testing

Verify airflow, coil performance, and operational efficiency against approved design parameters.

Step 5

Handover

Provide documentation, testing reports, manuals, and AMC support for
maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions FAQs

What is an AHU (Air Handling Unit)?

An Air Handling Unit (AHU) is HVAC equipment that conditions and circulates air across a floor or zone, typically containing filters, cooling coils, and a fan, positioned between the chiller or VRF system and the ductwork.

What is the difference between AHU and FCU?

An AHU is larger equipment that serves a whole floor or zone through connected ductwork, while a Fan Coil Unit (FCU) is smaller equipment that conditions air for a single room or small area, usually without extensive ductwork.

How is an AHU different from a ventilation system?

An AHU conditions air—cooling, filtering, and circulating it—while a ventilation system moves air for air-quality purposes such as exhaust or fresh air intake. The two often work together, with ventilation systems and AHUs sharing ductwork in a building.

How is an AHU tested before handover?

HAPL verifies airflow rate against the design CFM, checks coil performance and chilled-water connections, and confirms motor and fan operation before an AHU is signed off as commissioned.

Does HAPL provide AMC for AHUs?

Yes. AHUs installed by HAPL can be covered under a comprehensive AMC/CAMC contract, and HAPL also offers AHU servicing independently for units installed by other contractors, subject to a site assessment.
